ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Samford senior guard
Paige Serup tied a career high with 19 points to lead the top-seeded Samford women's basketball team to a 75-45 win over fourth-seeded Furman in the semifinals of the Southern Conference Tournament Friday morning at the Harrah's Cherokee Center.
With the win, Samford improves to 17-14. Furman falls to 19-12 with the loss. Samford will take on the Mercer-UNCG winner in Sunday's championship game, with the winner earning the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The 30-point win for Samford was the program's second-largest SoCon Tournament win ever, behind a 67-36 win over Elon in the quarterfinals of the 2012 Tournament.

- Serup made 8-of-11 shot from the floor, including 3-of-6 from three-point range on the way to her game-high 19 points.
- Charity Brown scored 12 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out four assists.
- Sarah Myers scored 11 points for the Bulldogs, while Natalie Armstrong added 10.
- Raven Omar added eight points and a game-high six assists.
- For Furman, Tierra Hodges scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

- After Samford fell behind early, 5-2, the Bulldogs answered with an 8-0 run to take a 10-5 lead with 5:52 left in the first quarter following a jumper by Olivia Crozier.
- Samford held a 17-9 lead at the end of the first period.
- Samford built its lead to 13 points at 24-11 with 8:18 to go in the second quarter after a layup by Christen Carter.
- Furman fought back to cut the lead to six at 26-20 with 2:34 left in the second quarter.
- Samford closed the quarter with a 7-2 run to take a 33-22 lead into the locker room at halftime.
- In the third quarter, Samford built its lead to 15 points at 45-30 with 2:41 left in the period following a three-pointer by Omar.
- Samford scored seven of the last 11 points of the third quarter to take a 52-34 advantage into the final quarter.
- The Bulldogs extended their lead to 20 points at 61-41 with 5:00 to go in the game after a three-pointer by Myers.
- After Furman cut the lead to 18 at 61-43, Samford went on a 14-0 run to take a 32-point lead at 75-43 with 32 seconds left after a three-pointer by Ta'Naisha Hill.
- Furman added a late basket to make the final score 75-45.
