CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Samford men's basketball team dropped a 73-68 decision at Chattanooga Wednesday night at McKenzie Arena.
 
With the loss, Samford falls to 5-5 overall and 1-2 in Southern Conference play. Chattanooga improves to 10-2 overall and 1-2 in league play.

• Samford was led in scoring by Myron Gordon with 18 points.
• Christian Guess had 13 points and 13 rebounds for the Bulldogs.
• Triston Chambers scored 11 points, while Jalen Dupree added 10.
• Chattanooga was led by David Jean-Baptiste with 22 points.

 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• After Samford jumped out to a 4-0 lead, Chattanooga answered with an 11-0 run to take an 11-4 lead with 15:13 to go in the first half after a jumper by Jean-Baptiste.
• Samford came back with a 7-0 run to knot the score at 11-11 with 13:35 left in the first half following a layup by Logan Dye.
• The teams traded baskets over the next several minutes until Chattanooga was able to extend to a 27-21 lead 6:39 left in the opening half after a layup by Josh Ayeni.
• Samford closed to within three points at 32-29 with 58 seconds left in the half after a layup by Guess.
• Chattanooga took a 34-31 lead into the locker room at halftime.
• Samford cut the lead to one at 41-40 early in the second half, but Chattanooga was able to push its lead back out to 46-40 with 15:49 to play in the second half after a three-pointer by Jean-Baptiste.
• Samford then scored the next six points to knot the score at 46-46 with 14:42 left in the second half after a three-pointer by Chambers.
• The Bulldogs took a 50-48 lead with 13:13 remaining in the half after a layup by Gordon.
• Chattanooga answered with a 9-0 run to take a 57-50 lead with 9:14 to go in the second half after a three-pointer by A.J. Caldwell.
• Samford cut the lead to three at 57-54, but Chattanooga then pushed the lead back out to seven at 64-57 with 6:19 to go in the second half after a jumper by Malachi Smith.
• The Bulldogs scored the next four points to cut the lead to 64-61 with 4:43 remaining in regulation after a layup by Dupree.
• Samford cut the lead to one at 67-66 with 2:01 remaining in the half after a three-pointer by Chambers.
• With Samford trailing, 69-68, Chattanooga scored the final four points to close out the 73-68 win.
