Late Goal Lifts Samford Past Mercer, 1-0

MACON, Ga. – The Samford women's soccer team collected its third-straight shutout with a 1-0 victory over Mercer on Friday night at Betts Stadium. The Bulldogs and the Bears traded shots to start the match, with both teams' opportunities being denied by defensive efforts on both sides of the ball. Goalkeeper Morgan McAslan registered her first save at the 16th minute mark, collecting a ball at the bottom left side of the goal after Mercer's Kylie Buchanan fired off her third shot of the night. McAslan picked up four more saves to post her fifth shutout of the season, while the Bulldogs fired off 20 shots compared to the Bear's 13. Samford finally broke through in the final five minutes of the match with a goal from senior Audrey Kleiman.
