BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – A trio of goals in the second half propelled the Samford University Women's Soccer team to a 3-1 victory over the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga on Sunday, Oct. 24 in the annual Shauna's House Charity Game at Shauna Yelton Field. The victory kept Samford perfect in the SoCon, as the Bulldogs become the first team in the modern era of the league to finish 9-0.

KEY PLAYS

Mary Raymond's sixth goal of the season, off an assist by Alyssa Conarton, gave the Bulldogs the 1-0 lead in the 46^th minute of the match. Raymond's header found the back of the net just passed the outstretched hands of UTC's keeper.
A perfectly placed shot by Taylor Yount in the upper left corner, extended Samford's lead to 2-0 in the 49^th minute.
Zoe Perrin's header off the assist from Raymond gave the Bulldogs a commanding 3-0 advantage in the 66^th minute of the second half.
Morgan Burman put the Mocs on the board in the 88^th minute to make the final 3-1 and erase the shutout.

FROM THE BOX SCORE

The first half proved to be a defensive struggle for both teams, as the Bulldogs finished the period with five shots and two on goal while the Mocs had two shots with one on goal.
Samford finished with 11 shot and six shots on goal while Chattanooga had six shots and three shots on goal.
Yount and Raymond are now tied for the team lead with six goals each on the year.

UP NEXT

The Samford women's soccer team will turn its attention to post-season play on Friday, Oct. 29, as the Bulldogs compete in the SoCon Tournament Quarterfinals on their home turf at Shauna Yelton Field. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. while Samford's opponent is yet to be announced.
