SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford senior goalkeeper
Morgan McAslan was named the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week when the league released its weekly women's soccer awards Tuesday afternoon.
McAslan led Samford to a pair of wins on the road last week. In Friday night's 1-0 win at Mercer, she saved five shots in keeping the Bears off the scoreboard. In Sunday's 4-2 win at The Citadel, she saved four shots, allowing two goals in the victory.
For the season, McAslan has posted five shutouts, and has saved 42 shots. She has a goals against average of 0.87 in 1,133 minutes of play.
McAslan and the Bulldogs are at home this weekend, hosting Wofford Friday night at 6 p.m., and Furman Sunday at 1 p.m. at Shauna Yelton Field.
