SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford senior goalkeeper
Morgan McAslan was named the Southern Conference's Defensive Player of the Month for women's soccer when the league released its monthly awards for October Thursday afternoon.
McAslan earns the honor for the second-straight month as she was named the SoCon Defensive Player of the Month for September as well.
McAslan led Samford to a 9-0 record, including five shutouts in the month of October. In the nine matches in the month, she allowed just five goals for a goals against average of 0.56. She produced shutouts against Mercer, Furman, ETSU and in both SoCon Tournament wins over Chattanooga and Mercer.
For the season, McAslan has led Samford to a 14-3-2 record and an eighth-straight SoCon regular season title. She has posted nine shutouts and has a goals against averaged of 0.71.
McAslan and the Bulldogs will play for the SoCon Tournament title Sunday at 1 p.m. against Furman at Shauna Yelton Field. Tickets to Sunday's game can be purchased at the following link:
