GREENSBORO, N.C. – Samford junior outside hitter joined the 1,000-kill club in the Bulldogs' sixth-straight victory in a 3-1 (25-22. 25-23, 18-25, 25-14) win at UNCG Monday night at Fleming Gymnasium.

Deaton now has 1,010 kills in her Samford career. The career kills record for Samford is 1,639 by Michaela Reesor (2011-14). With the win, Samford improves to 7-1 on the season. UNCG falls to 0-8 with the loss.

Deaton had 14 kills and 19 digs.
Kayla Keshock also had 14 kills for the Bulldogs.
Sierra Rayzor added 13 kills for Samford.
Corinne Meglic dished out 46 assists in the win.
For UNCG, Maria Esch had 13 kills and seven digs.

KEY MOMENTS

In the first set, Samford took an early 10-4 lead.
UNCG fought back to take a 14-13 lead.
With UNCG leading, 21-19, Samford scored six of the next seven points to take the set, 25-22.
UNCG grabbed a 15-11 lead in the second set.
With Samford trailing, 19-14, the Bulldogs scored seven-straight points to take a 21-19 lead.
With the score tied at 23-23, Samford scored the final two points to take the set, 25-23.
Samford took an early 10-6 lead in the third set.
UNCG fought back to take a 17-11 lead.
UNCG took the third set, 25-18.
In the fourth set, Samford took an early 11-8 lead.
With Samford leading, 16-13, the Bulldogs closed the set with a 9-1 run to take the set, 25-14, and the match, three sets to one.
