BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's tennis team will compete against Alabama State on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 2 p.m. to mark its seventh match of the season.
The Bulldogs are coming off a 4-0 victory against crosstown rival UAB. With that win, the men's tennis team improves to an overall record of 2-4 and 0-0 in conference play. Alabama State has three games under its belt so far this season and an overall record of 2-1. The Hornets faced Mercer University early on this week where they lost 1-6 against the Bears.

- Eladio Fabregas has secured two wins at the No. 2 spot, defeating Alabama's Ricardo Roberto (6-3, 6-3) and North Alabama's Andreas Hansen (6-2, 6-1). Fabregas then secured his third win of the season against UAB's Thanos Spyropoulos (7-6, 6-2) in the No. 3 spot.
- Tomas Santantonio has also locked in three wins this season, first against Alabama's Vincent Rettke (6-4, 4-6, 1-0) in the No. 3 spot. Santantonio then went on to defeat Auburn's Tom Wright in a three-set battle [(6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7)] at the No. 5 spot and UAB's Vojtech Podzemny (4-3, unfinished) once again at the No. 5 spot.

- Doubles partners Eladio Fabregas and Tomas Santantonio have kept a perfect 3-0 record when taking the court together. The pair have defeated their opponents from Troy, North Alabama, and UAB.
- Victor Chaw and Jim Hendrix have also found success together on the court with a 2-0 record this season in doubles. The pair found their wins against Alabama and Troy.
