SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford junior goalkeeper
Morgan McAslan was named the Southern Conference's Defensive Player of the Week when the league released its weekly women's soccer awards Tuesday afternoon.
In two matches last week, McAslan produced one solo shutout and one shared shutout as Samford picked up a pair of Southern Conference wins. The Bulldogs blanked Western Carolina, 3-0, Friday night and then earned a 5-0 win over ETSU Sunday afternoon.
In the win over Western Carolina, McAslan saved three shots. In Sunday's victory over ETSU, she posted a pair of saves. Those games are the second and third shutouts McAslan has been involved in already this season.
Samford will play at Wofford Friday at 5 p.m. (CT) in Spartanburg, S.C.
