Track And Field To Open Outdoor Season At Georgia Tech

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford track and field team will open the 2021 outdoor season at the Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by Georgia Tech.
The Bulldogs are coming off a week-long break after sweeping the 2021 Southern Conference men's and women's Indoor titles in Lexington, Va. The Yellow Jacket Invite will be the Bulldogs first outdoor competition since 2019, as the 2020 season was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The women's squad is the reigning Southern Conference Outdoor Champions having claimed the title in 2019.

BULLDOGS TO WATCH:
- Justin Stuckey: The Samford junior is coming off a career indoor season where he hit a career high mark in the men's high jump at the 2021 NCAA Indoor Championships earning All-America honors.
- Brittany Bishop: The standout sophomore won back-to-back titles in the women's pole vault with a jump of 3.80 meters, and will compete in her first outdoor meet with the Bulldogs.
- Megan Elliott: Claimed the women's high jump title at the 2021 SoCon Indoor Championships.
- Evan Brooks: Continued a breakout sophomore season taking the men's 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash titles at the 2021 SoCon Indoor Championships. Brooks will compete in his first outdoor season with the Bulldogs this year.
- Titus Moore: Claimed the indoor men's 60-meter hurdles title, and looks to continue a strong junior campaign in the outdoor season.
- Matt Cahoon: Enters the 2021 outdoor season after claiming his second-straight SoCon title in the men's indoor shot put and the SoCon title in the men's indoor weight throw. Cahoon was also named the Heath Whittle Award winner for Most Outstanding Athlete.
- Ty Kimberlin: Claimed the men's indoor heptathlon title at the 2021 SoCon Indoor Championships and also took silver in the men's long jump. Kimberlin was also named the Heath Whittle Award winner for Most Outstanding Athlete.
- Hannah Daffin: Will compete in her first outdoor season after claiming the indoor titles in the women's shot put as well as taking the bronze in the women's weight throw.
- Morayo Bhadmos: Broke the facility record in the women's triple jump at the 2021 SoCon Indoor Championships with a leap of 12.57 meters.
- Jose Penalver: Enters his first outdoor season with the Bulldogs having claimed the indoor title in the men's 800-meter run with a meet record time of 1:49.77.
