Women’s Soccer Takes Down Wofford, 2-0

SPARTANBURG, S.C.  – The Samford women's soccer team recorded its third-straight shutout with a 2-0 victory over Wofford Friday evening at Snyder Field.

KEY PLAYS
  • Morgan McAslan managed to keep the game at 0-0 after a key save 20 minutes into the first half after Wofford's Rachel Rasins broke through Samford's backline to record the Terrier's first shot of the night.
  • Eight minutes later, Caroline Orman had Samford's first shot on frame after she made her way down the left flank and attempted to place the ball in the bottom right corner of the goal. However, Wofford's goalkeeper, Maria Mon, had a diving save to keep the game scoreless.
  • The Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute with Alex Bice executing a header six yards out off a cross from Morgan Greene after the Terriers were unable to clear the ball off a Samford free kick from Alyssa Frazier.
  • Both teams traded shots in the second half until Morgan Greene put another one away for the Bulldogs after she launched a shot from outside the 18-yard box for her first career goal.
  • Wofford had one last attempt in the final minutes of play, but it was scooped up by Morgan McAslan to secure Samford's third win of the season.

  • The Bulldogs took a 13 to 4 advantage in shots, while forcing the Terriers into four saves.
  • Morgan Greene led the Bulldogs off the bench, locking in her first collegiate goal and assist.
  • Alex Bice scored her third goal of the season, which now gives her one goal in three consecutive matches.
  • Morgan McAslan was in goal for the entire 90 minutes for Samford and registered two saves on the night.
