BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford volleyball team earned a share of its second-straight Southern Conference regular-season title with a 3-2 (30-28, 18-25, 31-29, 17-25, 15-13) win over The Citadel Monday evening in the Pete Hanna Center.
With the win, Samford finishes the regular season with a 13-3 mark, all in Southern Conference play, putting the Bulldogs in a tie for the regular-season title with Mercer. By virtue of the league's tiebreaker, Samford will earn the No. 1 seed and hosting honor for this week's SoCon Tournament. The Citadel falls to 9-12 overall and 7-9 in league play.

- The teams traded points early in the first set until The Citadel used a 6-0 run to take a 13-7 lead.
- With Samford trailing, 15-9, the home Bulldogs went on a 5-0 run to cut the lead to 15-14.
- The teams fought into extra points in the first set.
- With the score tied at 28-28, back-to-back Samford points gave the home team the 30-28 set win.

NEXT UP
As the No. 1 seed, Samford will host the Southern Conference Tournament, with the semifinals scheduled for Friday, and the finals set for Saturday, all at the Pete Hanna Center. Samford will take on the No. 4 seed Wofford in the semifinals Friday at 4 p.m.
