Bulldogs-Mocs Play To 0-0 Draw

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Samford University women's soccer team started their Southern Conference title defense on Friday, March 5 with 0-0 double overtime results at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. The Bulldogs (0-1-1) moved to 0-0-1 in SoCon play while Chattanooga slid to 1-0-1 and 0-0-1 on the year. Alex Bice led the Bulldogs with two shots, including two on goal in the match.

KEY PLAYS
  • In the 35th minute, Audrey Kleiman's rocket to the center of the net was denied by UTC's Ashton Shields. It proved to be the lone scoring opportunity for either club in the first half of play.  
  • Samford kept the pressure on the Mocs in the first half, collecting four corners, two shots and one shot on goal. Chattanooga managed one corner and one shot.
  • Alex Bice nearly put the Bulldogs on top in the 70th minute as her shot to the lower right corner was just knocked off course by Shields to keep the score 0-0.
  • The Bulldogs created another chance in the 76th minute on Bice's shot to the center of the goal, but Shield's was true once again for the Mocs.   
  • Taylor Yount's blast in the 84th minute was deflected away again by Shields for her fourth save of the match.
  • Samford mounted one final attack in regulation, but the clock expired as the Bulldogs initiated their attack.
  • In the first overtime, Samford's Caroline Donovan unleashed a blast to the lower right side of the goal, but Shields remained firm keeping the match tied 0-0.
  • Jennifer Seward's shot from the top of the box in the 103rd minute was the final scoring opportunity for the Bulldogs as the match ended in a 0-0 tie.

  • Samford finished regulation with six shots, four on goal, with six corner kicks. Chattanooga managed one shot and one corner in the first 90 minutes of action.
  • The Bulldogs finished the night with eight shots, six on goal, and seven corner kicks.
  • Shields closed the match with six saves in 110 minutes in goal.
  • Morgan McAslan played all 110 minutes in goal for the Bulldogs, facing one shot all night.
  • Bice led Samford with two shots, including two on goal.
