KEY PLAYS
- Just seven minutes into the game, Samford would earn its second corner kick, taken by Alyssa Frazier, which would lead to a goal for the Bulldogs as Kylie Gazza got a foot on the ball inside to the six-yard box. Gazza would have her first opportunity blocked by a UNCG defender on the goal line, but followed up with a second shot off the deflection to give Samford an early 1-0 lead.
- After a solid build up from the backline, Lexi Orman would look to double the score at the 24:08 minute mark after she beat a Spartan defender to get a shot off just inside the 18-yard box, however, the ball would go high and right to give possession back to UNCG.
- The Spartans would find their first shot of the game 10 minutes into the second half as UNCG's Kaley Tucker got a head on a cross from the right side of the box, but Morgan McAslan had a diving save to keep the Spartans scoreless.
- Caroline Orman nearly made it 2-0 with less than 18 minutes left in regulation as the senior got on the end of Kyla Reynold's deflected shot, but Orman's attempt off the bounce would go straight into the hands of UNCG's goalkeeper, Aiyanah Tyler-Cooper.
