Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Bulldogs Blank Keydets 3-0 As Samford Dedicates Shauna Yelton Field

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. Kylie Gazza, Mary Raymond and Kyla Reynolds pocketed a trio of goals to power the Bulldogs (4-3-2, 1-0 SoCon) of Samford University to a 3-0 victory over Virginia Military Institute (2-8, 0-1 SoCon) to open Southern Conference play on Friday, Sept. 24.

Prior to the game, Samford honored Shauna Yelton, the late wife of Todd Yelton, head coach, with the naming of the field at the Samford Soccer & Track Stadium in her honor. She lost her battle to cervical cancer in November of 2015. Shauna was a proud member of the Samford community, being the former Director of Health Services where she provided care to the campus community and its employees. She was also an avid fan of Samford Athletics, supporting not only the Samford soccer team, but all programs across the board.
