TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Samford men's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision at Florida State on the first day of the Florida State Invitational Friday evening.
With the loss, Samford falls to 0-2 on the young season. Florida State improves to 4-0 with the win. The match was the first for new Samford head coach Olver Reynolds, who was officially hired earlier this week.
The Seminoles won at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles spots to pick up the first point of the match. The match on the No. 1 doubles court was unfinished.
In singles, the No. 3 court finished first, followed by the No. 1 court, both going to Florida State. The Seminoles clinched the win with a victory on the No. 5 singles court to close out the 4-0 win.
Samford will play two matches Saturday to close out the Florida State Invitational. The Bulldogs will take on Stetson at 9 a.m. and South Alabama at 1 p.m. A full recap and results will be posted to
