The Bulldogs tallied the first six points of set one, with a pair of Morgan aces capping off the early scoring run. Chattanooga fought back to trim its deficit to just 12-11 but the Bulldogs went on to score three unanswered to go up 15-11. From there, the Bulldogs expanded their lead to 20-13 and created enough breathing room to claim the set.

Samford set the tone in set two by utilizing a 7-0 run to jump out to a 10-1 lead. The Bulldogs continued to dominate the second set by extending their lead to 20-7 following an ace from Deaton and would go on to claim the set 25-11.

The Bulldogs took a 6-2 lead to begin set three, but the Mocs came fighting back to trim Samford's lead to 11-10. The Bulldogs kept their distance, however, going up by scores of 18-14 and 20-15 before eventually taking a 23-17 lead to help claim set three and the match.

Samford recorded a season-high .412 hitting percentage while committing just seven attack errors on the day. The Bulldogs closed out the day strong by hitting .500 in set two and .405 in set three while committing just three attack errors over that span.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 8 when they continue SoCon play with a 3:00 p.m. (CST) matchup at Furman
