BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Despite Samford holding a 1-0 lead for 86 minutes, ETSU scored in the final minute for a 1-1 draw Friday evening at Shauna Yelton Field.
With the result, Samford's record moves to 6-3-6 overall and 2-1-3 in Southern Conference play. ETSU moves to 5-5-4 overall and 3-2-2 in league action.
Samford's
Taylor Yount scored a goal in the fourth minute of the match to give the Bulldogs an early 1-0 lead. Neither team could score the rest of the first half, and they headed to the locker room with Samford holding a 1-0 advantage.
Throughout most of the second half, the teams could not find the back of the net. In the 90
th minute, ETSU's Sinoxolo Cesane scored off an assist from Madi Hook to knot the score at 1-1.
As a team, Samford had 21 shots, to six for ETSU. The Bulldogs had 12 corner kicks, to just five for the Buccaneers.
The game was Samford's annual Shauna's House game, raising money to benefit orphans in Ukraine.
