Bulldogs Host Southern Miss On Saturday Night

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After a three-game holiday road trip, the Samford women's basketball returns to the Pete Hanna Center for a Saturday night showdown with the Southern Miss Golden Eagles.
The Bulldogs and Golden Eagles are slated for a 7 p.m. CT tipoff and the game will be streamed on ESPN+. Tickets can be bought here.
Samford returns to Birmingham with a 3-6 after dropping three hard-fought road battles to UCF, Rhode Island and Jacksonville State.
Saturday marks the ninth meeting between the two programs with Southern Miss winning six of the previous eight meetings. The last time the Bulldogs downed the Golden Eagles was in 2017 when Samantha Fitzgerald scored a team-high 16 points in a 61-56 victory.
In the first nine games of the season, Samford coach Carley Kuhns has started the lineup of Andrea Cournoyer, Sussy Ngulefac, Kathleen Wheeler, Alyssa Tarpley and Sanaa Redmond.
Entering the Southern Miss game, Cournoyer is averaging 18.4 points per game, which is good enough to rank 43rd nationally and second in the SoCon. The senior guard ranks first in the SoCon and eighth in the country with 168 total points.
