SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford sophomore pitcher Jordan Walters was named the Southern Conference's Pitcher of the Week when the league released its weekly softball awards Monday afternoon.
 
Walters pitched a complete game shutout to earn a 1-0 win over Indiana State Saturday afternoon in the Bulldog Classic. She struck out five batters, while allowing just two walks. She gave up just two hits over seven innings in the victory.
 
For the season, Walters has a record of 4-3 and 2.21 ERA. She has recorded 19 strikeouts, while allowing just six walks so far this season.
 
The Samford softball team will play a doubleheader at North Alabama on Tuesday, March 1. The games are set for 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. in Florence, Ala.
