ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – The Samford men's golf team placed seventh at the Sea Palms Invitational, hosted by Western Carolina at Sea Palms (Par 71, 6,664 yards) Friday and Saturday.
"I'm happy with a seventh-place finish," Samford head coach Al Del Greco said. "The guys have been working really hard and it showed in this tournament.
Craig Sanders and
Brian Boles both had under-par rounds, which was impressive given the difficult conditions. We still have some things to clean up and need to execute better at times but this tournament showed we are improving and getting better."
Samford posted a three-round score of 886 (298-296-292) to finish seventh in the 19-team event. Wright State won the tournament with a final score of 866 (287-305-274).
Individually for Samford,
Davis Woodliff led the way, tying for 19
th with a score of 220 (71-77-72).
Craig Sanders (75-70-76) and
Brian Boles (77-74-70) both tied for 24
th with identical scores of 221.
Dylan Moncus (75-77-75) and
Andrew Sullivan (77-75-77) both tied for 51
st at 227.
Samford will next play in the Palmetto Invitational, March 7-8.
