The in-state foe, North Alamaba, jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second as Haven Kirby and Taylor Brown made it home for the Lions off a Samford fielding error. The Bulldogs answered in the bottom half of the fourth, putting two runs on the board after junior Merritt Cahoon recorded a two RBI double to make it a tie game. The two-bag hit marked the Birmingham natives sixth double of the season and 15th of her career.

The offensive burst continued in the next inning with the Bulldogs tacking on two additional runs for a 4-2 lead. With one out on the board, senior Kolby Holcombe tallied her third home run of the season, ripping a ball over the left field fence on a 2-0 count. This was followed by a career-first triple from senior Amanda Briskin who made it back home one play later off a UNA fielding error by Harely Stokes at first base.

After executing the rally, the Bulldogs locked in on defense with Jordyn Partain sending the Lions down in order in the top of the sixth before producing a fly out, ground out, and strikeout in the top half of the seventh to secure the midweek win. In the circle, Partain threw her ninth complete game for Samford, earning her seventh win on the season for an overall record of 7-6. The Macon, Ga., native gave up zero earned runs and just three walks while striking out four Lions at the plate after 28 batters faced.
