PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – The Samford men's golf team tied for fourth at the Golfweek Fall Challenge, played Sunday through Tuesday at the True Blue Course (Par 72, 6,921 yards).
"We had a good showing at the Golfweek Challenge, tying for fourth," Samford head coach
Al DelGreco said. "It was a disappointing final round today, but I was proud of my guys. The second round score of 10-under par is really what we are capable of. We still have lots of work to do, but we're headed in the right direction. Go Bulldogs!"
As a team, Samford shot a three-round total of 856 (285-278-293), tying with Delaware for fourth in the 13-team field. Jacksonville State won the event with a final score of 836 (283-275-278).
Individually for Samford,
Matthew Smith tied for 19
th in the 76-player field, with a score of 213 (73-69-71).
Brian Boles (70-67-77) and
Dylan Moncus (72-72-70) both tied for 25
th with identical scores of 214.
Craig Sanders tied for 38
th with a three-round score of 218 (71-72-75), while
Andrew Sullivan tied for 44
th at 219 (72-70-77).
Matthew Madden played as an individual, with his score not counting towards the team total, tying for 62
nd with a score of 227 (73-81-73).
Samford will next play in the SIUE Dolenc Invitational, Sept. 25-27, in Edwardsville, Ill.
