SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford senior goalkeeper
Morgan McAslan was named the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week when the league released its weekly women's soccer awards Tuesday afternoon.
McAslan saved five shots, including one penalty kick, in holding 14
th-ranked Auburn to just one goal in a 1-1 tie Sunday at Shauna Yelton Field. She also limited UAB to just one goal in a 1-0 setback last Thursday at UAB.
For the season, McAslan has a 0.63 goals against average in 720:00 in goal. She has saved 26 shots, while allowing just five goals and posting three shutouts so far this season.
The Bulldogs will next play at Tennessee Tech on Thursday, Sept. 15. The game is set for a 6 p.m. start. To follow all Samford games this season online, click on the following link:
