COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – The Samford University soccer team earned a 1-0 victory at Tennessee Tech in the Bulldogs' final non-conference game of the 2022 season Thursday evening at the Tennessee Tech Soccer Field.
With the win, Samford improves to 4-2-3. Tennessee Tech falls to 2-4-2 with the loss.
The teams played through a scoreless first half, with only one shot coming on goal. In the second half, Samford's
Mary Raymond broke through with a goal off an assist from
Whitaker Buchanan in the 69
th minute of the match for a 1-0 Bulldog lead.
As a team, Samford outshot Tennessee Tech, 17-6. The Bulldogs had eight shots on goal, to none for Tennessee Tech. Samford had three corner kicks, while Tennessee Tech had two.
Taylor Yount led Samford with four shots, while
Layton Glisson had three shots for the Bulldogs.
