BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford Volleyball Team fell 3-0 to the ETSU Buccaneers on Friday, dropping to 6-9 overall and 1-2 in Southern Conference play.
The win boosts the Bucs' record to 9-6 on the year and 3-0 in SoCon action.
Kenya McQuirter led the Bulldog attack with 18 kills on the night while
Lauren Deaton narrowly missed a double-double with a nine-kill, nine-dig performance.
Kayla Keshock dished out 33 assists with seven digs while
Kate Morgan posted a team-high 11 digs with four assists.
An evenly-contested first set saw the score read 10-10, 15-15, and 18-18 before the Buccaneers rattled off a 3-0 run to create separation. The Bulldogs fought back to even the score once again at 22-22, but ETSU would go on to tally three of the final four points to claim set one 25-23.
Set two followed a similar sequence of events, with the score reading 10-10 and 19-19 before ETSU took a 21-19 lead. After Samford trimmed its deficit to 22-21, The Buccaneers secured the set with a 3-0 run.
Samford posted a .229 hitting percentage while holding ETSU under 200 at .198. The Bulldogs additionally edged the Bucs in assists by a tally of 41-38
The Bulldogs face a quick turnaround, with a Saturday, Oct. 1 matchup with Chattanooga up next. First serve form from the Pete Hana Center is set for 5:00 p.m. (CST)
