Bailey Named SoCon Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford senior guard Andrea Bailey was named the Southern Conference Player of the Week when the league released its weekly women's basketball awards on Tuesday afternoon.

This is Bailey's second Player of the Week award this season.

Samford sits at 2-0 in SoCon thanks in large part to Bailey averaging 20 points, seven rebounds, 3.5 steals and a trio of assists per game.

In the conference opener, Bailey scored 22 points in a 59-47 victory over the Western Carolina Catamounts before pouring in 18 points to help Bulldogs take down UNCG by a score of 76-66.

Bailey leads the SoCon in scoring by averaging 18.2 points per game, which ranks 40th nationally. The senior ranks top 20 nationally in total points (19th/310), field goal attempts (16th/254), field goals (13th/117) and steals (12th/48).

The Bulldogs return to the hardwood on Wednesday at Chattanooga. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT.
