Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's tennis team fell in its home opener to Kennesaw State, 5-2, Saturday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.
 
With the loss, Samford falls to 0-3 on the young season. Kennesaw State improves to 3-0 with the victory.
 
KSU earned the first point of the match by winning the doubles matches on courts two and three. Samford won on the No. 1 doubles court, with Mohammed Ali Bellalouna and Maxwell Giddens defeating Raul Garcia and Seru Tezuka, 6-1.
 
In singles, Samford won on the No. 1 and No. 5 courts, but fell on the No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 courts as the Owls took the 5-2 win. At No. 1 singles, Bellalouna defeated Garcia, 3-1, retired. At the No. 5 singles spot, Will Gray earned a 7-5, 6-3 win over Kevin Patel.
 
Samford will next host Alabama State on Friday, Jan. 27. The match is set for a 3 p.m. start from the Samford Tennis Center.
