KILLEN, Ala. – The Samford men's golf team placed seventh in the MartinFed Invitational, held Monday and Tuesday at Turtle Point Yacht and Country Club (Par 72, 7,133 yards).
Samford was led individually in the tournament by freshman
Taylor Kuehn, tying for 14
th in the 70-player field with a final score of 214 (73-68-73).
Davis Woodliff (75-73-74) and
Andrew Sullivan (75-74-73) both tied for 36
th with identical scores of 222.
Damin Strydom tied for 40
th with a three-round score of 223 (75-73-75), while
Matthew Smith finished 63
rd at 237 (82-77-78).
"Taylor had another good tournament," Samford head coach
Al DelGreco said. "We had a good second round on Monday as a team. We improved in a few areas, but we are still making way too many mistakes."
Samford had three players who played as individuals, with their scores not counting towards the team score.
Brian Boles tied for 40
th with a score of 223 (72-77-74).
Nolen Wolfe came in 64
th at 238 (81-80-77), while
Craig Sanders placed 65
th at 239 (84-81-74).
As a team, Samford finished with a three-round score of 881 (298-288-295) to finish seventh in the 11-team field. The host school, North Alabama, won the event with a final score of 844 (279-280-285).
Samford will wrap up the fall portion of its schedule by competing in The Clerico, hosted by Oral Roberts, Oct. 23-24 in Broken Arrow, Okla.
