BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford University soccer team wrapped up its regular season with a 2-0 win over Chattanooga Sunday afternoon at Shauna Yelton Field.
 
With the win, Samford improves to 10-3-5 overall and 6-1-2 in Southern Conference play. The Bulldogs end the regular season in a tie for second place in the SoCon standings with ETSU. By virtue of ETSU's win over league-leading Western Carolina on Sunday, ETSU earns the No. 2 seed for next week's SoCon Tournament, with Samford claiming the No. 3 seed. The Bulldogs will open the SoCon Tournament with a quarterfinal game Friday in Johnson City, Tenn. The pairings for the tournament will be released by the SoCon later Sunday. Chattanooga ends its regular season with a mark of 10-6-1 overall and 4-4-1 in league action.
 
Hanna Rae Himes got the scoring started with a goal off a long shot in the 41st minute to give Samford a 1-0 lead. Mia Wehby scored off an assist from Whitaker Buchanan in the 81^st minute to make the score 2-0. Samford was led Mary Raymond with six shots, while Wehby had four shots. Chattanooga's Mackenzie Smith led the Mocs with three shots.
 
As a team, Samford had 21 shots, to seven for Chattanooga. The Bulldogs had nine corner kicks, to just one for the Mocs. Samford goalkeeper Zoe Clevely played the full 90 minutes, saving two shots and leading the Bulldogs to their 12^th shutout of the season. Chattanooga's Carline Ekern saved seven shots, allowing the two goals in the loss.
 
The pairings for next week's SoCon Tournament will be announced by the league later Sunday.
