SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Junior Maxwell Giddens of the Samford Men's Tennis Team has been named the Southern Conference Player of the Week.
 
Giddens helped the Bulldogs pick up a 6-1 win at Alabama A&M on Feb. 12 with a straight-set win (6-0, 7-5) at the No. 1 flight in singles and a 6-4 win with partner Sandeep Mohandoss at the double's No. 1 flight.
 
The Sylacauga, Ala. native boasts a perfect 4-0 record in doubles this season and a mark of 3-3 in singles action.
 
Giddens is the third Bulldog to be named SoCon Player of the week in 2023, joining teammates Mohammed Ali Bellalouna and Mohandoss.
 
The men's tennis team will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 17 against Southern Miss. First serve from Hattiesburg, Miss. is set for 1:00 p.m.
