BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team earned its third-straight win with a 4-3 victory over UTEP Saturday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.
 
With the win, Samford improves to 8-4 on the season. UTEP falls to 3-10 with the loss.
 
Samford swept the three doubles matches to earn a 1-0 lead. At No. 1 doubles, Samantha Nanere and Lindsay Song defeated Thassane Abrahim and Veronika Lebisova, 6-4. On the No. 2 doubles court, Alexis Lopez and Lauren Waddles earned a 6-4 win over Elena Dibattista and Zuzanna Szczepanska. At No. 3 doubles, Cameron Rogin and Olivia Jablonski defeated Eve Daniels and Carlotta Mencaglia, 7-6.
 
In singles, Samford won the matches at the No. 1, No. 5 and No. 6 positions to take the match, 4-3. At No. 1 singles, Lopez defeated Mencaglia, 6-3, 6-3. On the No. 5 court, Rogin earned a 6-2, 6-2 win over Dibattista. At the No. 6 position, Jablonski defeated Daniels, 6-3, 6-3.
 
Samford will open Southern Conference play with a match at Chattanooga on March 24. The match is set for a 2 p.m. start from Chattanooga, Tenn.
