In game one, Ansley Yantis had her best game of the season as the junior collected a season-high four RBIs on a pair of base hits. Yantis also scored a run in the contest.

Senior Merritt Cahoon added two more hits and run scored of her own, while Logan Champion hit her seventh home run of the season to tie for the team lead.

McKenzie Newcomb started in the circle for the Bulldogs and was dealt the loss after allowing a trio of runs in four innings. Newcomb also fanned four Catamounts.

Western Carolina had built a 3-0 lead by the time Yantis launched her first home run of the season over the wall in the top of the fifth to make it a 3-2 game. The Catamounts answered right back in the bottom fifth with a three-run home run.

Spearheaded by Champion's homer and a Yantis two-run double in the sixth, Samford cut the lead down to 6-5 heading into the bottom of the sixth.

WCU added an insurance run to stymie the Bulldog comeback in the home half of the sixth to seal the 7-5 contest.

In game two, Sarah Squillace secured her team-best fourth three-game of the season with a trio of singles.

The outfield duo of McKayla Cothran and Lindsey Nelson each had two-hit games with Nelson's first home run of the season in the fourth season being the lone Bulldog run of the contest.

In the circle, Jordyn Partain took the loss for Samford as the sophomore gave up four runs in 4.2 innings of work. Newcomb tossed a scoreless 1.1 innings in relief.

Western Carolina opened the scoring with an RBI double in the first and held a 1-0 lead until Nelson tied the game fourth with a solo shot over the wall in right.
