MOBILE, Ala. – The Samford men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision at South Alabama Friday afternoon at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts.
With the loss, Samford fell to 0-2 on the season. South Alabama now has a record of 1-0.
At No. 3 doubles, Samford's
Will Gray and
Darcy Nicholls defeated Harold van Raemdonck and Javier Montoya, 6-3. South Alabama took the doubles matches at No. 1 and No. 2 to earn the first point of the match.
In singles, Samford's
J.B. Pickard defeated Juan Accossatto, 3-6, 7-6 (12-10), 1-0 (10-6) on the No. 4 court. South Alabama, however, won the other five singles spots to take the 6-1 win.
Samford will play again on Sunday when the Bulldogs play at Georgia Tech. The match is set for a 12 p.m. (CT) start from Atlanta.
