GAME NOTES.
Samford enters the game with a record of 3-3 overall and 2-1 in Southern Conference play. The Bulldogs earned an impressive 55-35 win over 7
th-ranked Mercer last week. The Citadel currently has a mark of 3-5 overall and 1-4 in SoCon play. The Citadel picked up a 13-10 win at VMI last week.
Samford and The Citadel have met 17 previous times, with Samford owning a 10-7 series lead. Last season, Samford earned a 37-7 win at Pete Hanna Stadium. Samford has won the last five games in the series. The last time the teams played at Johnson Hagood Stadium, Samford defeated The Citadel by a score of 38-3 during the 2022 season. A total of 16 of the previous 17 meetings have come since Samford joined the Southern Conference in 2008.
HATCHER'S OFFENSES PRODUCE

Chris Hatcher's offenses have averaged more points than under any other head coach in program history. Entering the week, Hatcher's teams have averaged 33.28 points per game, ahead of Bobby Bowden's 28.57 average. Terry Bowden (1987-1992) averaged 27.92 points per game during his tenure while Bill Gray (2001-06 / 25.68) and Pat Sullivan (2007-14 / 25.50) round out the top five.

Chris Hatcher, Samford has made a habit of quick scoring drives. In Hatcher's time at Samford, the Bulldogs have had 202 scoring drives that lasted two minutes or less and 96 that have lasted one minute or less.

This season, Samford has five road game on its football schedule, and the Bulldogs are 0-3 so far in road contests. Last season, the Bulldogs posted a record of 2-3 away from home.
SAMFORD AGAINST SOUTH CAROLINA TEAMS
Samford has an all-time record of 45-30-1 against teams from the state of South Carolina, including a mark of 10-7 against Saturday's opponent, The Citadel.

Since joining the Southern Conference in 2008, Samford has posted a record of 73-57 in conference games. All-time against each current members of the SoCon, Samford has a mark of 99-85-4, including a 10-7 record against The Citadel. Samford's all-time record against each current SoCon team is Chattanooga (11-34-3), The Citadel (10-7), ETSU (8-4), Furman (12-14), Mercer (16-14-1), VMI (9-3), Western Carolina (17-4) and Wofford (16-5).
ON THIS DATE
Samford has an all-time record of 9-4 in games played on Oct. 26. The last time the Bulldogs played on Oct. 26 was in 2019, in a 24-17 win over ETSU. In 1963, Samford traveled to Mexico City on Oct. 26, to take on the National University of Mexico, coming away with a 26-14 victory.
MARTIN NAMED SOCON DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Samford graduate linebacker
Noah Martin was named the Southern Conference's Defensive Player of the Week after a stellar performance last week against Mercer. He was responsible for two turnovers, both in the fourth quarter, recovering a fumble and later intercepting a pass and returning it 26 yards for a touchdown. In addition to the turnovers, Martin led the team with 10 tackles.
CRITTENDON TURNS IN A CAREER PERFORMANCE
In last week's 55-35 win over 7th-ranked Mercer, quarterback
Quincy Crittendon turned in a career performance in leading the Bulldogs to the win. He passed for a career-high 378 yards, and he tied a career high with four touchdown passes. His four scoring passes all came in the first quarter, setting a new Southern Conference record for touchdown passes in one quarter.
