CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Samford soccer team earned its third-straight win with a 1-0 victory at The Citadel Thursday afternoon.
With the win, Samford improved its season record to 6-6-1 overall and 3-1 in Southern Conference play. The Citadel dropped to 4-6-2 overall and 0-4 in league play.
Sam De Luca scored the game's lone goal to lead Samford.
Layton Glisson contributed an assist, and she also led the team with three shots.
Peyton Hull played the full 90 minutes in goal, saving one shot without allowing a goal.
For The Citadel, Kennedi Walker and Alexis Haire tallied one shot each. Zoe Santos played in goal for The Citadel, saving eight shots and allowing one goal.
De Luca netted her goal in the 79
th minute off an assist from Glisson. Neither team was able to score the rest of the way as Samford captured the 1-0 win.
Samford will next play host to Furman Sunday at 1 p.m. at Shauna Yelton Field.
