SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford junior center
Emily Bowman was named the Southern Conference Player of the Week when the league released its weekly women's basketball awards Tuesday afternoon.
Bowman set school records for rebounds with 21 and blocked shots with eight in the Bulldogs' 67-61 overtime win at North Alabama last Thursday night. She narrowly missed a triple double in the win as she scored 15 points as well.
In Sunday's 82-41 win over Miles, she came close to another double-double. In the win over the Golden Bears, she scored nine points, grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked four shots.
For the week, Bowman averaged 12.0 points, 16.0 rebounds and 6.0 blocks per game. This marks the second time this season she has earned the honor, as she was also named SoCon Player of the Week on Nov. 19.
Next up, Samford will play at TCU on Tuesday, Dec. 17. The game is set for a 6:30 p.m. start from Fort Worth, Texas.
