HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Samford men's golf team tied for fourth at the Wexford Intercollegiate, hosted by Francis Marion University, at Wexford Plantation (Par 72, 6,884 yards), Monday and Tuesday.
"We played a good tournament," Samford head coach Al Del Greco said. "Taylor (Kuehn) and Davis (Woodliff) played really well. Taylor had a chance to get his first collegiate win and Davis had another top 10 finish. It was a very tight and difficult golf course that we navigated pretty well. We'll keep working and getting better for the rest of the spring."
The Bulldogs finished with a three-round score of 889 (293-295-301) to tie with High Point for fourth in the 18-team field. Georgia State won the event with a final score of 873 (287-295-291).
Individually for Samford,
Taylor Kuehn led the way, placing fourth in the 90-player field, with a three-round total of 217 (71-73-73).
Davis Woodliff tied for ninth at 219 (75-70-74).
Matthew Smith finished in a tie for 31
st with a score of 226 (76-74-76).
Andrew Sullivan tied for 33
rd at 227 (71-78-78).
Craig Sanders placed 88
th with a score of 247 (83-80-84).
Samford will next play in the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Invitational, Mar. 4-5, in Aiken, S.C.
