JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – The Samford men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision in a non-conference match at Jacksonville State Sunday afternoon.
With the loss, Samford dropped its season record to 11-5. Jacksonville State improved its season mark to 12-7 with the win.
Samford took a 1-0 lead by winning on the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles courts to capture the doubles point. At No. 1 doubles,
Sandeep Mohandoss and
Maxwell Giddens defeated Zach Murphy and Marko Milosavljevic, 6-3. On the No. 2 doubles court, Maksim Bodanovich and
Santiago Arredondo earned a 6-4 win over Lucius Soller and Vanja Dobrnjac.
In singles, Samford won at No. 3 where Bodanovich defeated Alin Fatu, 6-4, 6-0. Jacksonville State, however, won at the other five positions to earn the 5-2 win.
Samford will next play host to ETSU on Saturday, March 30. The match is set for a 12 p.m. start from the Samford Tennis Center.
