BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team earned its third-straight win, defeating Western Carolina, 5-2, Friday at the Samford Tennis Center.
 
With the win, Samford improved its season record to 6-10 overall and 2-2 in Southern Conference play. Western Carolina fell to 8-12 overall and 0-5 in league play.
 
Western Carolina swept the three doubles matches to take an early 1-0 lead.
 
In singles, Samford won on the No. 1, No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 courts to take the 5-2 win.
 
At No. 1 singles, Alexis Lopez defeated Isabella Sambola, 6-4, 6-3. On the No. 3 singles court, Ally Hayduk defeated Angela Perez, 7-5, 7-6. At No. 4 singles, Noelle Mauro earned a 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 win over Madison Schwarz.
 
On the No. 5 singles court, Margaret Jaraczewski defeated Andrea Redondo, 6-2, 6-2. At No. 6 singles, Meredith Taylor defeated Dasha Osadova, 6-3, 6-2.
 
Samford will next play host to Chattanooga on Thursday, April 4. The match is set for a 1:30 p.m. start from the Samford Tennis Center.
