Men’s Tennis Wins Sixth-Straight At Presbyterian, 6-1

CLINTON, S.C. – The 75th-ranked Samford men's tennis team picked up its sixth-straight win, earning a 6-1 victory at Presbyterian Thursday afternoon.
 
With the win, Samford improved its record to 9-4. Presbyterian dropped its record to 5-6 with the loss.
 
In doubles, Samford won at the No. 1 and No. 2 courts to pick up the first point of the match. At No. 1 doubles, Maxwell Giddens and Sandeep Mohandoss defeated Javier Matos and Denim Yadav, 6-4. On the No. 2 doubles court, J.B. Pickard and Santiago Arredondo defeated Marco Foglieni and David Mamalat, 6-4.
 
In singles, Samford won the No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 courts to take the 6-1 win. At No. 1 singles, Giddens defeated Matos, 7-6, 6-2. On the No. 2 court, Darcy Nicholls earned a 6-3, 6-2 win over Yadav. At No. 3 singles, Maksim Bogdanovich defeated Mamalat, 0-6, 6-3, 6-0.
 
On the No. 4 singles court, Pickard earned a 7-6, 6-4 win over Evgenior Vasilakis. On the No. 6 singles court, Yerrassyl Mural defeated Foglieni, 6-1, 4-6, 6-0.
 
Samford will next return to Southern Conference play by hosting Furman on March 17. The match is set for a 12 p.m. start from the Samford Tennis Center.
