Curry Names Furgason To Softball Staff As Assistant Coach

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – To put the finishing touches on her first staff, Samford softball head coach Megan Curry announced on Monday afternoon the hiring of Bella Furgason as assistant coach.

"I am so excited to have Bella join our staff. Her work ethic and servant heart are unmatched," Curry said. "She will be instrumental in helping with our infield and slappers. Welcome to Lakeshore, Bella!"

Furgason comes to Lakeshore Drive following a stellar senior campaign playing for Curry at Birmingham-Southern. In her final season as a Panther, Furgason was a first team All-Southern Athletic Association selection with a batting average of .276 and 27 RBIs. The second baseman also swiped 14 in 2024.

I am so excited to be a part of this staff," Furgason said. "Our goal is to create a standard of excellence within the Samford Softball program that lasts forever. Go Dogs!"

During the 2023 season, Furgason appeared in 11 games for BSC and was named to the Southern Athletic Association Academic Honor Roll.

Furgason came to Birmingham-Southern after spending a pair of seasons at Coastal Alabama Community College. While with the Coyotes, she was named first team All-South infield and second team All-Region infield.

The McCalla, Alabama native prepped at Brookwood High School, where she was a four-year letter winner on the softball diamond.
