WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Samford soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision at Army Wednesday evening at Malek Stadium at Clinton Field.
 
With the loss, Samford fell to 2-2-1 on the young season. Army improved to 4-1 with the win.
 
Brooklyn Miller scored Samford's goal in the game. For Army, Brigid Duffy and Keira Vesy netted a goal each.
 
Army got the scoring started when Duffy scored in the 34^th minute off assists from Madi Nichols and Grace Edvalds for a 1-0 Army lead. The Black Knights took that 1-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.
 
In the second half, Miller knotted the score at 1-1 with her goal in the 61^st minute off an assist from Whitaker Buchanan. Army's Vesy scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 79^th minute off assists from Kaelan Bradley and Cami Silvestro to give Army the 2-1 victory.
 
For Samford in the loss, Layton Glisson led the team with five shots. Mia Krusinski played the first half in goal for Samford, allowing one goal, while Peyton Hull played the second half, also giving up one goal.
 
Samford will return home to play host to Auburn on Thursday, Sept. 5. The game is set for a 6 p.m. start from Shauna Yelton Field and admission is free.
