Bulldogs To Play At Georgia Thursday, Host Georgia Southern Sunday

GAME NOTES--SAMFORD AT GEORGIA (PDF)

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –
The Samford soccer team will play its third-straight game against an SEC opponent when the Bulldogs play at Georgia Thursday at 4:30 p.m. (CT), and the team will then host Georgia Southern Sunday at 1 p.m. at Shauna Yelton Field.
 
Samford and Georgia have played four previous times with Georgia holding a 3-0-1 series lead. The teams last played in the 2022 NCAA Tournament, with Georgia winning, 2-0. Samford and Georgia Southern have met 10 previous times, with Samford owning an 8-0-2 series lead. The teams last met on Sept. 27, 2013, with the teams playing to a scoreless draw. Samford and Georgia Southern were co-members of the Southern Conference from 2008 to the spring of 2014 when GSU left for the Sun Belt.
 
Samford enters this game with a record of 2-4-1. The Bulldogs have earned wins over Tennessee Tech (3-1) and Troy (4-0), lost to Notre Dame (6-0), Army (2-1), Auburn (5-0) and Ole Miss (2-1), and tied UAB (3-3).
 
For Samford so far this season, the Bulldogs have been led by Layton Glisson with two goals and one assist. Fleming Dean has netted two goals as well. Brooklyn Miller has tallied a goal and three assists so far this season.
 
In goal Peyton Hull has played 348 minutes with a 3.10 goals against average, while Mia Krusinski has played 270 minutes with a 2.33 GAA.         
 
Georgia enters Thursday's game with a mark of 2-2-2. The Bulldogs have wins over Kennesaw State and Illinois, ties with Pitt and Florida State and losses to North Carolina and UCF.

Georgia has been led so far this season by Margie Detrizio with four goals. Summer Denigan has three goals and one assist. Jordan Brown has played all 540 minutes in goal, posting a 1.17 goals against average.
 
Georgia Southern enters the week with a record of 3-3-1. The Eagles have earned wins over Kennesaw State, North Florida and Jacksonville State. GSU had lost to Hawaii, Pepperdine and Furman, and the team tied Mercer.
 
The Eagles have been led so far this season by Smith Cathey with three goals and three assists for a total of nine points. Katie Oakley has started six of GSU's seven games in goal, playing 533 minutes and posting a 0.84 goals against average.
