ONEONTA, Ala. – The Samford men's golf team placed 10
th in the Graeme McDowell Invitational, held Sunday through Tuesday at Limestone Springs.
Samford finished with a three-round team score of one-over-par 865 (287-284-294) to place 10
th in the 13-team field. Louisiana-Monroe and North Alabama tied for the team championship with identical scores of 834.
Freshman
Gavin Isbell led Samford's playing five in the tournament, tying for 18
th in the 81-player field with a three-round score of four-under-par 212 (68-71-73).
Garrison Guthrie tied for 36
th with a final score of 217 (72-72-73).
Matthew Smith tied for 44
th at 219 (78-68-73).
Nolen Wolfe tied for 47
th with a final score of 220 (72-73-75), while
Blake Gayles came in 70
th at 231 (75-75-81). Playing as an individual, with his score not counting towards the team total, was
Tiaan Hugo, tying for 71
st at 232 (81-73-78).
Samford will next play in the Bayou City Classic, hosted by Rice in Houston, Sept. 30-Oct. 1.
