HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Samford men's tennis team picked up its first win of the 2025 spring season with a 7-0 victory at Alabama A&M Sunday afternoon at the Athletic Club of Alabama.
 
With the win, Samford improved its record to 1-2 on the young season. Alabama A&M fell to 0-2 with the loss.
 
In doubles, Samford won on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts to secure the first point of the match. At No. 1 doubles, J.B. Pickard and Darcy Nicholls defeated Kai Cowcher and Yin Chi Lan, 6-4. On the No. 2 doubles court, Hayden Menon and Sandeep Mohandoss earned a 6-2 win over Freddie Lawrence and Goran Krivokapic.
 
In singles, Samford swept the six matches to close out the 7-0 victory. At No. 1 singles, Mohandoss defeated Cowcher, 6-3, 6-4. At the No. 2 position, Menon earned a 6-2, 6-4 win over Chi Lan. Pickard won at the No. 3 singles position, 5-7, 6-2, 7-5 over Krivokapic.
 
On the No. 4 singles court, Sebastian Harrison defeated Freddie Lawrence, 6-0, 6-0. At No. 5 singles, Will Gray defeated Lebogano Mashego, 6-1, 6-4. On the No. 6 singles court, Victorio Sardinha won by forfeit.
 
Samford will next play at Alabama State on Saturday, Jan. 25. The match is set for a 1 p.m. start from Montgomery, Ala.
