BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's tennis team earned a 4-3 win over Alabama State Saturday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.
 
Samford improved to 2-2 with the win. Alabama State fell to 1-5 with the loss.
 
Samford won the doubles matches on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts to pick up the first point of the contest. At No. 2 doubles, Hayden Menon and Sandeep Mohandoss defeated David J Grandinot and Matteo Lataste, 6-3. On the No. 3 doubles court, Victorio Sardinha and Sebastian Harrison defeated Lun Obrul and Gordan Fran Mileusni, 6-4.
 
In singles, Samford picked up wins at No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 to take the 4-3 win. At No. 3 singles, Menon defeated Matis Amier, 7-6, 6-3. On the No. 5 singles court, Harrison earned a 6-1, 6-2 win over Mileusni. At No. 6 singles, Will Gray defeated Eloi Roux, 7-5, 7-6.
 
Next up, Samford will next play at Southern Mississippi on Feb. 1. The match is set for an 11 a.m. start from Hattiesburg, Miss.
