BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford soccer team remained unbeaten in Southern Conference play with an impressive 3-0 win at Mercer Thursday evening at Betts Stadium.
With the win, Samford improved its season record to 8-2-5 overall and 5-0-2 in Southern Conference play. The Bulldogs are unbeaten in 12-straight games, just two games away from tying the school record. Mercer fell to 7-6-2 overall and 2-3-2 in league games.

Sam De Luca got the scoring started with her goal in the 19th minute off an assist from
Annie McBride. The goal was De Luca's 12th of the season, which is the fourth-highest total in program history.
Becca Koenig added a goal off an assist from
Martha Bishop in the 44th minute to send Samford to halftime with a 2-0 lead. Bishop added a goal of her own off an assist from
Fleming Dean in the 61st minute to push the lead to 3-0.
Samford was led in the game by De Luca with four shots, followed by
Brooklyn Miller with two shots. Bishop had a goal and an assist, while De Luca and Koenig had a goal each and Dean and McBride had one assist apiece.

Peyton Hull saved six shots without allowing a goal. The shutout was her ninth of the season.
For Mercer, Sydney Farr had six shots, including two shots on goal. Mercer goalkeeper Avery Parker saved four shots, while allowing three goals.
Next up, Samford will return home to play host to ETSU on Sunday, Oct. 19. The game is set for a 1 p.m. start from Shauna Yelton Field.
