TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Samford soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision at sixth-ranked and third-seeded Florida State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Friday evening.
The loss was the first for Samford since Aug. 24, ending the team's school-record 17-game unbeaten streak. Samford ends its season with a record of 13-3-5. The Bulldogs won their 11th Southern Conference regular-season championship and eighth SoCon Tournament title during the 2025 season. Florida State advances to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and now has a record of 11-2-4.
Florida State scored early when Yuna McCormack netted a goal off an assists from Taylor Shuarez in the 11th minute of the game for a 1-0 Seminole lead. Neither team was able to score for the remainder of the first half and the teams headed to the locker room at halftime in a 1-0 game.
The Seminoles added three goals in the second half. Suarez scored off an assist from Jordynn Dudley in the 49th minute for a 2-0 lead. In the 61st minute, Wrianna Hudson scored off assists from Nyanya Touray and Suarez to make the score 3-0. Lara Dantas scored off an assist from Marianyela Jimenez in the 79th minute for a 4-0 FSU lead.

Hanna Rae Himes led Samford with two shots.
Mamie Carman and
Caroline Smith had one shot each. Samford goalkeeper
Peyton Hull saved seven shots in the game.
Florida State was led by Suarez with a goal and two assists. McCormack, Hudson and Dantas also scored a goal each. FSU goalkeeper Kate Ockene had one save in the contest.
