ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Samford volleyball saw its season come to a close Friday night at the Harrah's Cherokee Center, falling 3–0 to Wofford in the Southern Conference Tournament Quarterfinal. The Bulldogs dropped sets 25–22, 25–18, and 25–20, finishing the year with a 13–15 record and an 8–8 mark in SoCon play.
Despite the straight-set result, Samford battled throughout, trading a combined 23 tie scores and 10 lead changes with the Terriers. Senior outside hitter
Kaleigh Meritt led the Bulldogs with 12 kills, while
Ally Cordes added eight kills and a two block assists. Middle blocker
Greer Golden contributed five kills on an efficient .364 hitting percentage.
Setter
Shea Bruntmyer guided the Samford offense with 17 assists, and libero
Amelia Johnston anchored the defense with 16 digs. The Bulldogs totaled 48 digs as a team and posted 10 block assists against a strong Wofford attack.
Wofford was paced by a balanced offensive effort, hitting .257 overall and getting double-digit kills from Annemarie Rakoski (13) and Bradley Brown (10).
Samford closes the season having won five of its last seven regular-season matches and looks ahead to returning a core group of contributors in 2026.
